1989 Commonwealth Games Silver Proof Coin, Featuring This Sterling Silver crown-sized dollar coin was issued in 1989 as part of a four-coin series to commemorate the 14th Commonwealth Games held in Auckland in 1990.
The design (representing “a Commonwealth Games athlete against a background of the shooting stars of the Auckland games motif”) was by Xiao Wang from the Elam School of Fine Arts.
